If you're already in Australia, you may be eligible for the onshore partner visa (subclass 820). This pathway allows you to remain in Australia while your permanent visa is processed, provided you hold a valid visa at the time of application.
If your partner is overseas, you’ll likely apply for the offshore partner visa (subclass 309/100) or the prospective marriage visa (subclass 300) if you're engaged and planning to marry in Australia.
